Montserrat is not known worldwide but this beautiful island is worth getting to know. This lush green, vibrant island is located in the Lesser Antilles at latitude 16º 45' North of the Equator and longitude 62º 12' West of Greenwich. It is a short 15 minute flight away from its neighboring island Antigua. (on the left: Center Hills, Montserrat.)
On June 25, 1997 Montserrat popped up on the scene again after a volcanic eruption, which drastically changed life on the island. Unfortunately 19 persons lost their lives when this happened. Nevertheless the island has been on the road to recovery and has come very far. Even though people may have heard of Montserrat, especially because of the volcano, they do not really know a lot about it such as the culture or history of the island. So, to assist in the effort of spreading knowledge this site has been erected.
